Kolkata has a long tradition of mountain travel — Darjeeling and Sikkim are familiar territory for Bengali travelers. But Himachal Pradesh is completely different: Himalayan mountains, apple orchards, deodar forests, Rohtang Pass and Solang Valley snow — all different from the Eastern Himalayas Bengali travelers know. Option A — Train to Delhi (Rajdhani): 17–20 hours. We pickup from New Delhi Railway Station.
Option B — Flight to Delhi: about 2.5 hours. We pickup from IGI Airport.
Option C — Howrah to Kalka Mail (train lover special): Kolkata to Kalka direct by the Howrah Kalka Mail, then the UNESCO toy train from Kalka to Shimla — a 5-hour scenic mountain ride! We pickup from Kalka Railway Station. This is the most scenic Kolkata to Shimla route.
